This is a terrible app to download, beware. I signed up for free month and after cancellation I have been charged twice, most recent today for 21.52 AUD.
I emailed and requested refund again, and then tried to delete my credit card details, except that it doesnt allow me to, it says you have to add another card instead.
What a nightmare, and I am obviously not only one.
I LOVE THE PRODUCTS, but the billing and customer service is a big zero. They never let you know when your trial is over or if you suspend your membership for a few months they start you back in billing without letting you know. Then try to cancel it... Oh boy you have to figure it out on your own it won't happen through the app or in my case on my Mac. Some how I got through with a long wait on a phone call and got a 3 month bill supposedly refunded I have to wait to be sure...

Is it legal to have a sample of an audiobook that is different from the one that you buy?
Quite obvious that the sample of a book I bought last week is not the same recording as the book. There’s a noticeable difference in the tone and diction.
Deceived.
I was originally part of Audible USA which I joined 15 plus years ago whilst in the UK. It worked well. When I wanted a book I paid for it and got it. There were occasional issues with downloads and I phoned the USA helpline (from UK, New Zealand and Australia), got through to a real person, and was talked through the problem courteously and without dificulty. I recently purchased an audible supplement for a Kindle book and the download simply did not occur. I have done this exercise previously with no problem. I went online to get a phone contact but was repeatedly diverted through to the Australian subscription service and could not find a useable helpline number, the USA number not being available; the "Contact" button just took me through another irritating online circular exercise. I do not want a subscription, I want to buy a book when I feel like it but this is no longer a going option. I cannot get through to the US divison from Australia and am left with loss of money and no redress. I want the book I paid for or my money back; I can achieve neither. If there is a means of redress, I can't figure it out and it should not be that difficult. I did send an email online with no response. I would love to buy more audible books but there is no way now that I will do so (as a matter of principle). Audible should sell the punters what they want, not foist a difficult system on them. At least offer an easy to use helpline rather than this impersonal and irritating subscription website depicting a jolly smiling lady belying the frustration of dealing with the company. Oh, and did I say some of my books have gone missing, well they have. I would normally formally and courteously complain, but there is no easy way through and all is left is to deliver a bad review via Google. It is time that avaricous companies gave up the time consuming and difficult online stuff for the sake of profit and paid a few real people to answer telephones.
Ive been with Audible for 5 years. In the 5 years there's been some mishaps and some victories! But through it all ive had a VERY positive experience with Audible. There is always new books to find and THE DEAL OF THE DAY IS ALWAYS A GREAT DEAL. Go get your free trial and stick with it! You won't regret it trust me and hint upgrade to the highest package your experience will be amazing and worth the money and time! I'm staying with Audible it's my lifeline. I have Insomnia and if I didnt have audible to listen to at night to put me sleep I'd never sleep. Audible is a life saver a lifeline a Wonderful service. And the customer service is WONDERFUL also wow a 2fer lol
Would not recommend.
Listened to one book.
Cannot work out how to download another.
Trying to cancel membership isn't clear...
Taking money without providing the service promised.
Have finally worked out how to cancel membership, I think...
Audible have failed to advise customers of their returns policy. I return less than 1 in 10 books and only those I don't complete but I have now been threatened that they will not allow me to return anymore. This is contra to their advertisement of returning any books you don't like. Customer service has failed to respond to 5 separate emails asking for clarity and just sends a generic response. So suggest that you only purchase books that you 100% know that you'll like and won't want to return.
As others have written, DO NOT SUBSCIBE TO AUDIBLE! Even after confirming being unsubscribed on multiple occasions over multiple months, it keeps charging! This is horrible practice on the part of auduble/amazon and its only a matter of time before someone digs deeper in this shady financial malpractice given the number of reviews im finding saying the same thing. Again, to reiterate, this is with confirmation of unsubscribing, it continues to charge.
I signed up for the "free trial" trusting that the company would be reputable since Amazon links up and it is enforced so heavily. Right away, I had issue with the fact that I had a $1.81 charge on my account when there shouldn't have been anything, then not even an hour later another $1.81 charge. That was enough to make me cancel. There was no reason to charge my account anything at all, let alone twice in an hour. Hopefully they really did cancel my account.
I get audiobooks for free through my local library and Librivox. Not trying to get roped in and jump through hoops just to listen to audiobooks
The main reason you want to read a brilliant book is by actually reading it yourself. I don’t understand why anyone would want to read a book by having a computerised voice read it to you. It doesn’t compare in any way at all to owning a beautiful hardcover book, reading it & taking it in as & when your own mind allows!!
Got charged even though I cancelled my "free trial" before it expired. Than got charged twice for audible and audible uk even though I only used one single app. So I cancelled my account YET AGAIN and it turns out once you cancel you cant use a credit to get a book regardless that your account will be active for 30 more days (because you payed for 30 more days... unwillingly). This platform is a scam.
Absolute con do not give payment details as will rip you off month after month I still haven't been able to contact them or cancel the payments they continue to steal from my account
I had an account on amazon prime to watch movies and cancelled it in July 2020, then I noticed I kept getting emails from amazon audible and thought nothing of it until I checked my credit card account and found they had been charging me for this service since December 2020 and a few more payment transactions in 2021 for a subscription I never signed up for. I have all the emails to show that I cancelled amazon in July 2020 yet how could a company take your details and sign you up to a service that you did NOT authorize! It is illegal.
